Sheikh Mokhtar Maghroui

Musjid Al Hidaya

  • Goal of the seekers of Allah: Tou’heed
    • To experience the haqeeqa (truth) of Tou’heed – Nothing is left in the Mind & Heart except Allah. Always remember that
  • Hold fast to the Rope of the Qur’an – What is a better way to get nearer to Allah than to recite His words subhanahu wa ta’ala and reflect off them.
  • Full sincerity on this path to Allah.
  • Rasulullah (sal-Allahu-alayhi-wasallam) is the way that Allah chose to lead His ibaad (servants) to Him.
    • Emulate Rasulullah (sal-Allahu-alayhi-wasallam) in words, feelings, thoughts, actions.
  • Kathratu Dhikrullah-(Alot of Rememberance of Allah all the time) – Atleast with the tongue at all times.
    • Allah will change our hearts over time.
    • We can make dhikr at all times, all day long insha Allah.
    • Feel and understand what we are saying.
    • Pick a quiet place, perform ghusl or wudu before, wear beautiful clean clothing, put on a good scent. Proper manner in worship will help us to get nearer to Allah.
    • Some who Allah raised high reach Fana’ – a state of forgetting everything, even their own names.
  • Kathratu Salati ala’ Rasulullah (sal-Allah-alayhi-wasallam) – Sending alot of peace and blessings upon Rasulullah (sal-Allahu-alayhi-wasallam) – He (sal-Allah-alayhi-wasallam) is the way to Allah. Allah is the Aim. We should do it with Reverance. We shouldn’t say sal-Allah-alayhi-wasallam quickly, feel what we are saying.
  • Kathratu Salaah – Alot of Prayer –
    • In congregation in the Musjid as much as possible for the brothers
    • For salaah is meant for dhikrullah (remembering Allah)
    • Once we start loving to perform Salaah – “It’s an indication of a call from Allah to us”
    • “It is a means by which we knock at the Gate of Allah

-_-_Salaatul Maghrib Rest_-_-

  • Allah is to us the way we are to His commands
  • Kathratu Dua – Alot of Supplication/calling on Allah –
    • Ad-dua-u huwal ibada’ – “Dua is the Ibada”- Hadith
    • Especially more dua when in times of prosperiety, Allah is always with those who do this.
    • Rasulullah (sal-Allah-alayhi-wasallam) said: “Three virtues, whosoever has them shall attain the desireable things of this life and the hereafter:
      • Sabr (patience/restrain) in situations of trials
      • Ridha (pleasure/joy) with whatever Allah decrees
      • Dua (supplication) in times of Prosperity”
    • Alot of dua indicates that a person is with Allah.
    • Especially done in special times and places: (The Haram of Mekkah, The Haram of Nabi (sal-Allah-alayhi-wasallam), Arafat)
      • After Every salaah
      • After Asr on Jum’uah
      • Last third of the night
      • Before Dawn break
  • Killa-tut-ta’aam – (less eating) – Eating less with a desire to worship Allah and cleanse our hearts
    • Fast Mondays and Thursdays
    • Fast 13,14,15 of the Month-
      • The messenger of Allah (sal-Allahu-alayhi-wasallam) said, “Fasting three days every month is equivalent to fasting continuously.” (Agreed upon)
      • Ibn ‘Abbas said, “The Messenger of Allah, (sal-Allahu-alayhi-wasallam), did not fail to fast the white days either when at home or on a journey.” (An-Nasa’i)
    • Fast once or twice a week, gradually, keep consistant insha Allah.
  • Samt – Speaking less
  • Khalwah – Solitude – Take moments of Solitude
    • To reflect. (What is Tafakur and Tadabur?)
  • Muraqa of the Qalb (Watchfulness of the heart’s emotions and feelings and attatchments)
  • Our Ibadaat are meant to transform our hearts
    • “Except he who comes to Allah with a heart which is sound” – Al Qur’an
  • Rasulullah (sal-Allahu-alayhi-wasallam) said “Three virtues, whoever has them, Allah will shelter him inside His refuge, and will spread upon him His rahmah (merciful love) and will enter him into His Jannah.
    • 1) “The one who when given, is thankful”
      • How? I recognize that the person who gave me is an instrument of Allah giving me.
        • Praise Allah through words
        • Express gratitude to the person who gives me
        • Dua for the person
        • Give back somthing to the person in return
          • Rasulullah (sal-Allahu-alayhi-wasallam) said”he who is not thankful to people is not thankful to Allah”
            • He (sal-Allahu-alayhi-wasallam) always gived back more than what he was given.
        • Use what I am given in worshiping Allah.
    • 2) “And the one who, when able (to hurt), forgives.”
      • The person has the power to have revenge, but decides to forgive.
    • 3)”And the one when in Anger, calms down ( fatar: falls down)”
      • He/she doesn’t actualize his/her anger
      • Anger darkens the Qalb
      • Rasulullah (sal-Allahu-alayhi-wasallam) – ” The powerful is not hte one who wrestle’s one down, it’s one who can wrestle himself down”
  • Randomly picked Discourse from Futuhul Ghayb by Sh. Abdul Qadir Al Jilani:
    • “O People, if you have to (be in this dunya) let your nufoos be at the gate of the dunya and your heart at the gate of akhira, and your inner hearts at the gate of your Lord, until such a time when the nafs becomes the heart and will taste what it tasted and when the heart will become the inner heart and will taste what it tasted and when the inner heart will go into extinction, and he will live for Him and noone else.”
  • Somthing Sh. Mokhtar recalled after reading this:
    • Sayeedi ibn Ata’ Ullah Askendery: “Perhaps divine lights have come upon thee, yet they found the heart filled with athaar (remains, vestiges) and lifted off from where it landed. Empty your heart from the other, He will fill it with knowledge”
  • Tazkiyah is to prepare the ground to receive the divine light.

Alhumdulillah. As salaatu wa salaam ala’ Rasulullah.
